Our Story
Made with purpose.
Rooted in New Zealand.
The newVital was born from personal experience, 18 months of research, and a belief that your hair deserves better than compromises.
How we got here
Eighteen months.
One formula.
Where it started
Two siblings. The same problem.
Katrina and her brother didn't set out to start a hair care brand. They were just dealing with something personal — the kind of hair thinning that nobody warns you about, and nobody really talks about. For Katrina, it came with menopause. For her brother, it had been creeping up for years. Both of them had tried things. Most of them didn't work.
“I knew what was in those products. That was the problem.”
The insider's view
A decade in beauty changes how you read a label.
Katrina spent over ten years working inside the beauty industry. She understood formulation, she understood marketing — and she understood the gap between the two. She had seen firsthand what certain chemicals could do to a scalp over time: sensitisation, dryness, disrupted growth cycles. When her own hair started thinning, reaching for another shelf product felt impossible. She knew too much.
18 months of R&D
Not a quick blend. A proper formula.
What followed was eighteen months of research, testing, and refinement. Katrina started with harakeke — New Zealand flax — a plant she had long believed was underused in modern hair care. Treasured for generations in Māori tradition for its strengthening properties, harakeke seed oil is rich in omega fatty acids and deeply nourishing for the scalp. She built the formula around it: rosemary for circulation, castor oil for follicle support, jojoba, cedarwood, eucalyptus, and vitamin E.
“Every ingredient had to earn its place. If I couldn't justify it, it didn't go in.”
The test
Tested on real people. With real results.
Before The newVital launched, it was tested properly — on Katrina herself, on her brother, on friends and family willing to commit to twelve weeks and photograph their scalp honestly. The results took time, as real hair growth always does, but they were visible. Consistent. Repeatable. That was when she knew it was ready.
Made in New Zealand
Small batch. Fresh. Every month.
The newVital is made in New Zealand, in small batches, to order — not sitting in a warehouse for months, not mass-produced overseas. Every bottle is at its peak potency, packaged with a precision roller ball so you apply exactly what your scalp needs. It is a product made by someone who has thought hard about what she would want to put on her own scalp.
What we stand for
Every decision we make
starts with your scalp.
Natural by conviction
Not as a marketing angle. Katrina spent a decade watching synthetic chemicals cause scalp damage. Every ingredient is there because it works.
18 months of R&D
We tested, refined, and tested again — on ourselves first. The formula you're using is the result of patience, not a shortcut.
Honest about timelines
Hair growth takes 12–16 weeks. We say that plainly because we'd rather set a real expectation than sell a promise that disappoints.
Proudly NZ made
Made in small batches in New Zealand, fresh to order. The harakeke we use is native to this land — and so is the care that goes into making it.
Our promise to you
We will never
rush your results.
Hair growth is slow. That's not a flaw — it's biology. What we can promise is that every bottle of The newVital is made with the same care we put into the first one: fresh, potent, and formulated by someone who has used it on her own scalp.
We'll always be honest about timelines. We'll always tell you what's in it and why. And we'll always make it here, in New Zealand, where the harakeke grows.
